Spontaneous Human Combustion is the spookiest thing you will ever hear in your life with no valid explanation. So wash your hands first because you are about to bite your nails after reading this !! Spontaneous Human Combustion(SHC) is a natural phenomenon in which the body of a person catches fire by itself and is reduced to ashes in minutes. Some people are skeptic about the body catching fire itself for no apparent reason but none of them could explain the actual cases in which even the bones of the person were reduces to ashes while the surroundings were intact with nothing burnt. If you want to burn the human bones, you’ll need a very high temperature which can’t be achieved even by burning a house.
There have been about 200 cases of SHC worldwide over a period of around 300 years.
In 1982, the Saffin family of London claimed that their 62 year old relative Jean suddenly burst into flames right in front of their eyes.
A gentleman in Crown Point, New York actually seemed to spontaneously combust when he was watching an episode of ‘The Twilight Zone’ television show.
Henry Thomas was a 73-year-old man living in South Wales when got burned by itself in 1980. The policemen and forensic scientists deduced this from Thomas’ remains : he had been sitting comfortably in his easy chair when he somehow caught fire near the top of his body and burned to death. And it was an intense fire – all that was left of Mr. Thomas were his legs below the knee and his skull.
There are many theories put out by scientists about this phenomenon (but none of them has been proved). One theory suggests that it can be the methane build up in the intestines ignited by the enzymes of our body.
One other theory explains that it can be the buildup of static electricity inside the body or from an external geomagnetic force exerted on the body.
One self-proclaimed expert on spontaneous human combustion, Larry Arnold, suggested that the phenomenon could be the work of a new subatomic particle called a Pyroton, which he says interacts with cells to create a mini-explosion. But no scientific evidence proves the existence of this particle.
Some people say that it can be the spontaneous ignition of natural human gases, in the presence of high blood alcohol concentration but this is unlikely because most of the victims of this disaster were not found to be alcoholics.
Latest case of SHC was reported in September 2011 when an Irish Man lost his life by Spontaneous Human Combustion. Here’s the BBC link for the whole Story:
